ANDALUCÍA, June 7, 2018.-
The Cluster Andalusia Smart City has today incorporated the University of Granada (UGR) as a new member belonging to the alliance of institutions and companies that are part of this organization that works in favor of the development of smart cities in the Andalusian region.
The president of the cluster, Mariano Barroso, and the rector of the UGR, Pilar Aranda, were in charge of signing the act of adhesion and the collaboration agreement between both entities during the course of an act that was attended by José Ángel Narváez, rector of the University of Málaga, who is also part of the organization as well as the University of Córdoba.
The incorporation of the UGR to the Andalusia Smart City Cluster will enable collaborative actions with the University, through the companies and institutions associated with the cluster, for the development of scientific, technical, cultural and academic activities in the field of smart cities.
The agreement signed between the University of Granada and the Andalusian cluster includes, among other actions, the execution of projects and programs, the provision of technical services, mutual advice on issues related to the activity of both entities, cooperation in training programs personnel, the organization and execution of common activities related to the social promotion of research, technological development and any other action that is of mutual interest.
Mariano Barroso has expressed his “great satisfaction because an Andalusian university of national and international prestige of the one of Granada forms part of the cluster and contributes with its knowledge, research capacity and academic impulse to join forces so that the cities and towns of Andalusia can reach the degree of smart, which is nothing more than becoming more efficient, more sustainable and more comfortable places for citizens “.
For its part, the rector of the UGR has stressed “the enormous importance for the University of Granada has to adhere to the Andalusia Smart City Cluster, which will allow us to continue working together and establish new synergies and strategies in this area.”
